Dar Commands Practice

Dar (to give) in the commands: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

IWhat to watch for

The tú command of dar is the regular da, but the subjunctive forms behind the other commands are unusually short: no des, dé, demos, den. The usted form dé carries a written accent for one reason only — to tell it apart from the preposition de. Dé un paso versus un paso de baile.

Two more details worth drilling. No des is a single syllable and learners often stretch it into no das, which is indicative and means you don't give. And when a pronoun attaches to the tú command it becomes dame, dale, dánoslo — with an accent as soon as the word reaches three syllables.
