Ir Commands Practice

Ir (to go) in the commands: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

14 exercisesIrregularB1 – B2 level
IWhat to watch for

Ir has the strangest imperative in Spanish. The tú command is ve — spelled exactly like the tú command of ver — while everything negative or formal jumps to the vay- stem: no vayas, vaya, vayan. Only the sentence tells ve (go) from ve (look).

The nosotros form breaks the pattern completely: the affirmative is vamos, not vayamos. Vamos a la playa is let's go; no vayamos a la playa is let's not. This is the one verb in the language where the affirmative and negative nosotros commands come from different stems, and it is worth memorising on its own.
