Ir Present Subjunctive Practice

Ir (to go) in the present subjunctive: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

14 exercisesIrregularB1 – B2 level
IWhat to watch for

The present subjunctive of ir grows out of the irregular yo form voy: drop the -oy, keep the v-, and you get vaya, vayas, vaya, vayamos, vayáis, vayan. None of these forms look anything like the infinitive, so they have to be learned as their own small set.

You will meet them after triggers like espero que, quiero que, ojalá and para que. The classic trap is slipping back into the indicative — saying espero que vas instead of espero que vayas — or confusing vaya with the similar-sounding valla.
