Sentir Preterite Practice

Sentir (to feel, to be sorry) in the preterite: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

14 exercisesStem-changing e→ieA1 – A2 level
IWhat to watch for

In the preterite, sentir keeps regular -ir endings but has a stem change in the third person: the e becomes i in sintió and sintieron, while the other forms keep the e — sentí, sentiste, sentimos, sentisteis.

The biggest trap is writing 'sentió' or 'sentieron': the él/ella and ellos forms must be sintió and sintieron. Note too that sentimos looks identical to the present, so the time markers (ayer, anoche, de repente) are what pin it to the past.
