IWhat to watch for

The present perfect of esperar is haber plus the regular participle esperado: he esperado, has esperado, ha esperado, hemos esperado, habéis esperado, han esperado.

In Spain it describes waits inside a period that isn't over (hoy he esperado más de una hora), apologies (¿has esperado mucho?) and long waits that still matter now: los vecinos han esperado años a que arreglen la calle.
