Dormir Commands Practice

Dormir (to sleep) in the commands: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

14 exercisesStem-changing o→ueB1 – B2 level
IWhat to watch for

Dormir shows both of its stem changes in the imperative. Where the stress falls on the stem you get ue: duerme, no duermas, duerma, duerman. Where it moves to the ending, the o weakens to u — durmamos, not dormamos and not duermamos.

That u is the mark of an -ir stem-changing verb, exactly like sintamos from sentir and pidamos from pedir. Compare it with an -ar verb such as contar, whose nosotros command is contemos with a plain o. And remember the reflexive: duérmete means go to sleep, with an accent once the pronoun is attached.
