Comer Preterite Practice

Comer (to eat) in the preterite: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

•14 exercises•Regular -er•A1 – A2 level
IWhat to watch for

Comer is regular in the preterite: comí, comiste, comió, comimos, comisteis, comieron. These are the endings of every regular -er and -ir verb — vivir gives viví, vivió, vivieron — and the contrast with irregular stems such as tuvo or hizo is exactly what this page drills.

Unlike hablar, comer keeps its present and preterite nosotros apart: comemos is now, comimos is yesterday. The accents fall on comí and comió. With se, comerse means to eat something up: se comió toda la tarta.
