IWhat to watch for

Di is the shortest command in Spanish along with ve — a single syllable, no ending, no accent. It belongs to the family of eight irregular tú commands (di, haz, ve, pon, sal, sé, ten, ven) and cannot be replaced by dice.

Everything else uses the g of the yo form digo: no digas, diga, digamos, digan. Watch what happens when a pronoun is attached: di + me becomes dime, and dímelo needs a written accent because the word grows to three syllables. Negatives put the pronoun in front instead: no me lo digas.
