Tener Present Perfect Practice

Tener (to have) in the present perfect: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

IWhat to watch for

The present perfect of tener is refreshingly regular: haber (he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han) plus the participle tenido. All the irregularity of tener — tengo, tuve, tendré — disappears here, because the participle of an -er verb simply ends in -ido.

The two words are inseparable. Nothing may come between haber and the participle (nunca he tenido, never he nunca tenido), and the participle never agrees with the subject: María ha tenido, not ha tenida. Reach for this tense with ya, todavía no, hoy, esta semana, últimamente and nunca — the time frame that still touches the present.
