Contar Preterite Practice

Contar (to count, to tell) in the preterite: 14 free exercises with an explanation after every answer, plus the full conjugation table.

•14 exercises•Stem-changing o→ue•A1 – A2 level
IWhat to watch for

In the preterite contar is regular and keeps the o: conté, contaste, contó, contamos, contasteis, contaron. Cuenté and cuentó are common mistakes carried over from the present.

It tells what someone told on one occasion (ayer le conté a mi madre lo del accidente), what was counted (contamos el dinero dos veces) and what mattered at a given moment: su voto no contó.
